In the last step, you created the business context to show your client that you know what is going on. Now you need to build your authority in the eyes of the client by showing where you come in.
You built your business around your unique set of skills and ability to create content, solve problems, and work with clients better than anyone else. Explain that to your client by sharing a quick and impactful bio. You can tweak this bio depending on the client and the project as you see fit. For all of them, though, keep it short and relevant to the project.
A basic structure we like is:
Introduce yourself: Your name + area of expertise + business needs that you can serve
Show off your resume: Where you earned that area of expertise
“Rachel Green is an expert content marketer that helps companies scale their business through digital channels. Prior to her consulting work, Rachel started and led the growth teams at Stripe and Pied Piper, where she transformed growth channels through content partnerships, SEO, referral programs, and more.”
Take a few minutes to write down your short bio. Even if you already have one, tailor this one to this specific client. Here’s a quick template you can work off of in your workbook.
[ Your Name ] is an expert in [ areas of expertise ] that helps companies [ specific business outcomes that you can create for clients ]. [ Your name ] has worked with clients such as [ Client A ] and [ Client B ], where they [ created a specific business outcome ].
Your intro is a golden opportunity to build your authority.
Tailor it to keep it relevant to the project.
Show off your previous work and accomplishments.
