Include additional sections to cinch the deal

Great progress – you have some solid things in there. Depending on the project, there might be more areas you want to detail. You can make these templates as long as you want, and you should be tweaking them based on each client’s specific needs. Other information you can include could be things like:

  • Client’s current state analysis: This is a deeper look into the client’s business. If you’ve already done some work to customize your strategy for their needs, this is a good opportunity to put it.

  • Business opportunity available to the client: If you’re making the business case for the client to help them justify spending more or give them fodder to get approval from their boss, here’s your chance.

  • Expected travel: If you might need to go on-site for the project, share that you’re willing to do that if needed.

  • Research process: If you have a special research process or network of experts in a field that you want to incorporate into the work, include that here. This could be a network of experts in a field related to the client.

Here are a few examples.

The current state

[COMPANY] has leveraged in-house SEO resources for keyword explorations and optimization tactics, but hasn’t seen meaningful results from this work.‍

Neither [COMPANY] nor [NEWCO] pages rank for key head terms that will be high leverage to this product line.

For example:‍

  • 3D modeling - 27k MSV

  • 3D design - 6.6k

  • 3D design software - 3.6k

  • 3D view - 3.6k

  • 3D texturing - 1.6k

[COMPANY] also lacks a complete picture of the keyword universe it should be competing for in the 3D/AR/VR authoring space.

Travel

Most of this work can be done asynchronously and over video calls. That being said, I am open to traveling on an as-needed basis with ample notice. All costs of travel are expected to be covered by the client and are not included in the current project fee.

Now it’s your turn:

Spent a few minutes adding on any optional sections to this part of your proposal. We’ve included a template for the business opportunity in your workbook.

Recap

  • Help them get the budget approval by detailing the business opportunity for them.

  • Incorporate sections that display your unique capabilities.
